A Simple Ayurvedic Winter Wellness Tea
Winter has a way of sneaking up on us. Shorter days, colder weather, heavier meals, and low-grade stress can slowly chip away at your energy, leaving you feeling run down long before you’d ever call yourself “sick.” In Ayurveda, immunity isn’t something you scramble to boost once symptoms show up—it’s something you tend to daily by supporting digestion, soothing stress, and keeping your body warm and well-circulated.
In Ayurveda, strong immunity (ojas) begins with strong digestion (agni). This simple tea is designed to gently kindle digestive fire while supporting the immune system at the earliest signs of fatigue.
Winter Wellness Tea Recipe
Simmer the following herbs in 2 cups of water for 10–12 minutes. Strain and sip warm. You can make this tea at the first sign of feeling sick, or get ahead of a cold by drinking it daily throughout cold and flu season.
Tulsi (Holy Basil) – 1 tsp dried leaves
Tulsi is a cornerstone herb in Ayurveda for supporting immunity. As an adaptogen, it helps the body respond to physical and emotional stress, which is often an unseen factor behind lowered immunity. It also supports the respiratory system and has antiviral and antimicrobial properties, making it ideal when energy is low or when you begin to feel run-down.Fresh ginger – 3–4 thin slices
Ginger gently rekindles agni, the digestive fire that underpins immune strength. By improving circulation and digestion, it helps the body mobilize defenses before stagnation or congestion can take hold. Ginger also enhances the absorption of the other herbs in the blend.Cinnamon stick – ½–1 small stick
Cinnamon brings warmth, grounding, and antimicrobial support. It helps clear subtle coldness in the body, supports circulation, and is especially helpful when run-down feelings come with chilliness, heaviness, or mental fog.
By supporting digestion, easing stress, and gently warming your body, this simple blend helps your system build natural resilience, especially during the colder months when it needs a little extra support.
